Machines of Loving Grace

tina tang

--NoelleThis is one of my very favorite poems.I like to think (and the sooner the better!) of a cybernetic meadow where mammals and computers live together in mutually programming harmony like pure water touching clear sky.I like to think (right now, please!) of a cybernetic forest filled with pines and electronics where deer stroll peacefully past computers as if they were flowers with spinning blossoms.I like to think (it has to be!) of a cybernetic ecology where we are free of our labors and joined back to nature, returned to our mammal brothers and sisters, and all watched over by machines of loving grace. © Richard Brautigan-------------------------I wish someone has written a song with this poem. Every time I read it I'd remember why I put down so many things and so many people to come to New York. This is a strange place where both the dreamer and the cynic in us can quite comfortably co-exist and settle down. There are always events of the day which would require me to pull up the the worse side of self. But also there are always, especially in the current Spring time, the buzzling streets and flickering orange lights, the after-rain pavements and early blossom with fresh water drops, that make me see the Machines of Loving Grace at work. 14kt Gold Garnet Fire Earrings** Street Image by fotovor @ Flickr
