Confession: For the last 2 months, I have been experiencing a creative slump. The block comes from my fixation to produce a final product I love without appreciation of the process.Sima, who is a mixed media artist, is constantly reminding me: "Process, NOT Product!" She reminds me that you cannot always create the masterpiece each time you are creating art. As a type A personality, I constantly want to create something satisfactory so that I don't feel my process was a waste of time.Yesterday was the first day I was able to draw something without the expectation that it would result in something final.Working on a couple ideas - solitude (the shell idea), and the ginkgo leaf which a lovely customer suggested.I know the sketches seem simple, not very original; however, the juices are flowing again.I came to work today much happier knowing that the mental blockage may be subsiding. You betcha, I have on my summer uniform: wedges and vintage summer dress. That philosophy applies to everything in life, doesn't it? Process, not product.
